Ice cream soda

When I was four to five years old, I couldn’t fell asleep until midnight and got out of bed to go to the living room. There, my mom and dad amusing themselves over a glass of some green liquid.

It was soda water which was easily made by dissolving a sachet of powder into a glass of water.

My father loved soda water.

So do I and, above all, I love ice cream soda.

Home made ice cream soda. Homemade plum preserve is added.

The ice cream soda is attracting people’s attention these days.

I have heard even a specialized shop has appeared somewhere in Japan.

Since the corona disaster, restaurants, pubs and bars are often prohibited from serving alcohol drinks. Some have decided to close after eight o’clock, some serves soft drinks only. Then, the ice cream soda gains popularity in pubs.

Mugi Cafe's ice cream soda

Somehow soda water served at restaurants and cafes, whether it is with or without ice cream, have green color and a little bit melon flavor. I have no idea it is only Japan or not.

When overseas traveling are available for common sightseer, I would like to try cream soda over the world.
