24. Azalea Hill In The Nezu Shrine

Soon after the cherry blossom season comes to an end, azalea season begins.

It seems that azaleas adapt to the Japan’s climate and can be seen magenta flowers here and there, along the main road, in the park and so on.

Yet, azalea flowers are not only magenta, but wide range of colors such as white, pink, crimson, mauve, and mixed color.

In the Nezu Shrine we can see over a hundred kinds of azaleas blooming all at once.

I have been to this shrine in this season several times, while this year it was particularly beautiful. The hill looked ablaze.

Usually azalea festival is being held. It attracts so many people that it is noisy and difficult to walk.

But not this year. I enjoyed the colorful flowers placidly.

I have visited many famous gardens. Rhododendrons in Kew gardens and tulips in Keukenhof are unforgettable.

While, the pandemic reminds me that I can enjoy beautiful flowers without riding planes or cruise ships.
